At Tuesday night’s Council meeting, Hudson Ward 4 Councilman Keith Smith announced his resignation from City Council, effective following the April 5 Council meeting. Councilman Smith is moving to a home in a different Hudson Ward, making him ineligible to continue serving as the Ward 4 representative.
Councilman Smith served on Hudson City Council for three years and was Council liaison for the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, Connectivity Committee, Ad Hoc Finance Committee, and Golf Advisory Board. Prior to joining City Council, he was part of the 2011 Leadership Hudson class and a member of the Economic Growth Board.
“I have enjoyed serving the community and working with my fellow council members, the mayor, and City staff,” said Smith. “I plan to continue to be active in the Hudson community in the coming years.”
Hudson City Council is accepting applications for the Ward 4 Council position until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15. Applicants must be a Hudson resident for at least two years, be a registered voter, live in Ward 4 (see map), and continue to reside in Ward 4 through the duration of their term.
Council will review the applications and appoint an individual who will serve until the November 2017 general election in which the appointee may run for an elected seat. Whoever is elected will fulfill the remainder of Councilman Smith’s term through December 2019.
To apply, complete the Boards and Commissions application. Applications may be submitted with an attached resume online or returned in printed form to the Clerk of Council email or Attn. Clerk of Council, 115 Executive Parkway, Suite 400, Hudson, Ohio 44236.
