2023 Construction Projects Are Underway

Construction Barrel

Orange barrel season is already in full swing in Hudson! We were able to get a head start this year with early fair weather. Many highly anticipated projects are coming up, including the resurfacing of Terex Road beginning April 24, a sidewalk installation on Owen Brown Street under the railroad bridge, the South Main Street Bridge Replacement, and more. Traffic impacts and more detailed information will be sent out closer to the beginning of each project. Sign up for Hudson E-News or follow us on our social media platforms to ensure you're always up-to-date!

2023 Asphalt Program

Approximately 18 streets are included in this year's Asphalt Resurfacing Program. The program began the week of April 10 with milling Andover Way, Whitemarsh Way, Greenthorn Drive, and Woodbridge Road. On Monday, April 24, work on Stratford Drive, Nathan Court, South Oviatt Street, Elmcrest Drive, and Meadow Farm Lane is scheduled to begin. The work includes asphalt milling, road base repairs, casting adjustments, chip seal, and new surface asphalt installation. Terex Road Resurfacing Project Begins April 24

The Terex Road Resurfacing Project, from Londonairy Blvd. to Barlow Rd., is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 24, weather permitting. This project is partially funded by ODOT. Two-way traffic will be maintained and minor delays can be expected.

The section of Terex Road from Barlow Road east to Hudson Dr. will also be resurfaced this year. This other section of Terex Road is 100% funded by the City. Both sections of Terex Road are anticipated to be completed by the end of June.

2023 Concrete Program

The 2023 Concrete Program is nearly complete due to having nice weather early this season! Damaged and deteriorated sidewalks, curbs, and ADA ramps in the downtown area were repaired or replaced. A sidewalk was also added along the south side of Park Lane to connect to the existing sidewalk at SR 91.

Sidewalk and Trail Projects of Note

Several sidewalk and trail projects are on the schedule for this year. Sidewalk projects of note include:

  • Middleton Road Sidewalk from Valleyview to SR 91
  • SR 303 Sidewalk from N. Hayden Parkway to the east corporate line
  • Stow Road Sidewalk from SR 303 to Hudson Springs Park
  • Owen Brown Street Sidewalk from Morse Road, under the railroad bridge, to Lennox Road
  • Valley View Road trail from SR 91 to Hunting Hollow Drive

The Veterans Trail Phase 3 project was just completed. The 8-foot wide, 1.1 mile long gravel trail begins at the end of Lynn Drive and winds through Cascade Park and along Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course all the way to Barlow Road. A new boardwalk and bridge was included in the project.

South Main Street Bridge Replacement

This project includes the replacement of the existing S. Main Street bridge that over Brandywine Creek Tributary near Yours Truly Restaurant. The project also includes the installation of a widened sidewalk along the west side of N. Main Street, under the Norfolk Southern bridge. The bridge replacement portion of the project is 100% ODOT funded and the City is participating in the costs associated with the sidewalk widening under the railroad bridge. ODOT will manage the project. The project requires the closure of SR 303 south for approximately 16 days. The schedule is still being determined, but the closure is anticipated to begin sometime after July 4. The schedule, detours, and more information will be posted when available.

Owen Brown Street Reconstruction Project - on hold?

This project includes roadway base repairs, storm sewer improvements, a new water line, traffic calming feature and resurfacing.

Water Projects of Note

SR 303 / W. Case Drive Water Main
The City will be installing a new 16" watermain along S.R. 303 between the City of Hudson water plant and East Case Drive, and a new 8" watermain along West Case Drive between SR 303 and Lynn Drive. For more information, visit the project page here.

Roslyn Water Main
The City will be installing a new 8" watermain along Roslyn Drive between SR 303 and Elm Street. For more information, visit the project page here.

Upcoming Summit County Department of Sanitary Sewer Sewer (DSSS) Projects

Morse Road Sanitary Pumpstation and Forcemain
Summit County DSSS is planning for a new sanitary sewer main that will connect Owen Brown Street, through the Heinen's Parking lot to Clinton Street.

DSSS is also evaluating the installation of a sanitary pump station/storage tanks and forcemain to pump sanitary sewage from a new pump station near the intersection of Morse Road and Village Way, to an existing pump station at West Prospect Street. This project is anticipated to begin this summer.
