Recycle Your Christmas Tree with the Merry Mulch Program

Merry Mulch Home Slideshow Image

With Hudson's Merry Mulch Program, residents can set their live Christmas trees by the curb for the City to pick up and process into a natural mulch product. The program runs January 2 through January 27, 2022. Trees MUST be placed in the tree lawn area (the area between the sidewalk and the edge of the street in front of your home, or if there is no tree lawn between your sidewalk and the road, place your tree as close to the sidewalk as possible without impeding pedestrian traffic) no later than 7 a.m. on the first day of your scheduled pickup dates for each round.

Please see important program dates for your quadrant below. Not sure which quadrant you're in? Use the Quadrant Search Tool here.

First Round of Pick Up

Please note these dates are subject to change based on weather and the amount of trees set out. Please set your tree out by 7 a.m. on the first day of scheduled pickup to ensure your tree will be picked up.

NW Quadrant: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4

NE Quadrant1/5, 1/6, 1/9

SW Quadrant: 1/10, 1/11, 1/12

NW Quadrant: 1/18, 1/19

NE Quadrant: 1/20, 1/23

SW Quadrant: 1/24, 1/25

SE Quadrant: 1/26, 1/27

After your last scheduled pickup, please contact your private trash hauler to arrange for disposal.

Requirements

The program is limited to Christmas trees. The City does not pick up brush, wreaths, garland, tree limbs, or yard waste. All plastic bags/wrap, lights, tree stands, wires, ornaments, garland, tinsel, and any other decorations should be removed from trees prior to placing them curbside. Trees with decorations or plastic will not be picked up as part of this program.

Please Note

The speed at which pick up occurs depends on the volume of trees and the weather. Once crews pass your address during the first round, they will not be back to your address until the second round. Once crews pass your address during the second round, they will not return. Please contact your private trash hauler to arrange for tree disposal if your tree cannot be placed on the tree lawn by 7 a.m. on the first day of your last round scheduled pickup.

For more information, call Hudson Public Works at 330-342-1750 or visit the Merry Mulch Program on the City’s website.
