Public Comments

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • Planning Commission at its last meeting. The Barlow Townhomes request was denied 3-1. The board felt the proposed density was not consistent with the area and the design did not mitigate through screening, orientation, and building design. PC approved a tree clearing permit for a medical building on Seasons Road west of SR 8. The Land Development Code was introduced and will be back at PC in a month.

Report of the City Manager

  • Celebrate Hudson. There have been 58 entries for HUDSONmART and the parade has 60 entrants which is more than the Memorial Day Parade. Lots of publicity. It will be a big weekend, and we are encouraging everyone to come out for the events.

Legislation

  • Legislation to agree to the terms of the Opioid settlement. In 2019, the State of Ohio negotiated OneOhio, a state-local government allocation agreement concerning any future opioid settlements. Through OneOhio, a negotiating committee and a mechanism for allocation and distribution of funds was established. Recently, through the OneOhio agreement, Ohio Attorney General Yost and attorneys for Ohio political subdivisions negotiated a proposed settlement with three opioid distributors (McKesson, AmerisourceBergen, and Cardinal Health.) For local governments like Hudson to participate in the proposed settlement, City Council must pass legislation authorizing Hudson to sign the OneOhio Participation Form and agree to the material terms of the proposed settlement. The Ohio Municipal League has indicated that the deadline for this legislation is August 13, 2021. To accommodate this deadline, this Resolution needs to be passed with emergency language on first reading to be effective by August 13, 2021. First Reading. Motion to suspend the rules and pass due to time constraints. Passes 5 – 0. Motion to pass. Passes  5-0.
