Public Hearing

  • Pursuant to Charter amendments approved by voters in November 2020, the proposed Land Development Code amendments would revise relevant text of the composition and terms of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, and the Architectural and Historic Board of Review and remove regulations which allow the development of land with a maximum net density to increase without changing the text of the regulation or the zoning map.
    • A resident indicated she was in favor of this and urged Council to continue to look at the Land Development Code which she feels needs more revisions.

Public Comments  

  • There were no public comments.

Correspondence and Council Comments

  • The Council President presented a special recognition to Clerk of Council Elizabeth Slagle who was recognized as Clerk of the Year by the Ohio Municipal Clerks Association. She was selected for this honor from among the organization’s 260 members.
  • Council received citizen comments expressing the desire for no more restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 and a thank you for power washing the water tower. 
  • A Council member thanked the Hudson Fire Department for lending him crutches when he needed it. HFD has a program that lends crutches and other medical equipment people when in need of these items. 
  • The Environmental Awareness Committee announced that this year’s Green on Green will be September 18. The EAC did its annual litter index assessment for Hudson and rated it a 2, with 1 being the best possible score. The Committee also is revisiting the idea of creating community gardens and where they would be placed. They are also planning a joint meeting in October with the Park Board so they can work together on a few projects.

Report of the City Manager

  • Due to the rise in COVID-19  cases nationwide and locally, the CDC and Summit County have recommended masks be worn in public areas and indoors. While the City is not currently instituting restrictions, it is monitoring the situation. The City will encourage people to wear masks whether vaccinated or not and will continue to update the City’s website as new information comes out from Summit County, the State of Ohio, and the CDC.
  • Tuesday’s Touch a Truck event was a great success. Every child received a coupon for a cookie or ice cream and the City is appreciative of the donors for this event.
  • The City is finalizing plans for Celebrate Hudson on Labor Day weekend. It will culminate with a Parade on Labor Day at 10 a.m. There will be events for the whole family. Visit for event details and more information. 

Consent Agenda

  • Council passed a motion for the Clerk to send notice to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control indicating that Hudson is not requesting a hearing regarding the new liquor permit for the Farmers Rail Hudson.  


  • Ordinance amending Chapters 1201, 1205, 1206, 1207, 1213 and Appendix D of the Architectural Design Standards of the Land Development Code. Second Reading.
  • Authorization to amend the contract for the redesign of the Veterans Trail Phase 3 project, including environmental permitting and coordination, trail design, and drainage design work above the original design contract with Michael Baker International from 2018 of $279,000.00. The increase requested is $73,150. Third reading. Passed 6-0

Executive Session

Council went into executive session to discuss the purchase of property for public purpose and to seek legal advice on a subject of pending court action.
