HPD Receives New Microchip Scanner to Assist in Locating Pet Owners

Pet Microchip Scanner

Hudson Police Department (HPD) recently received a new dog microchip scanner to assist with reuniting lost dogs with their owners! Dogs can be scanned for a microchip 24/7 without needing to be transported to a vet.

How it works:

  1. If you find a lost dog, please call HPD's non-emergency line at (330) 342-1800.
  2. An officer will be sent to your location to scan the dog and attempt to locate a microchip.
  3. If a microchip is identified, HPD will attempt to locate the owner of the dog.
  4. Please note, HPD would prefer the person who finds the dog to hold onto it as HPD does not have a place to house dogs. The Summit County Dog Warden would be contacted to pick up the dog if a place for the dog cannot be found.

Thank you to Hudson resident Marci Matthews who gifted the microchip scanner to HPD! We anticipate many lost dogs being quickly reunited with their owners thanks to this generous gift.
