Re:       January 29, 2021 Update to Council

Good day to you.

As we move into February, several items of note for upcoming Council agendas:

  1. On February 9th staff will be presenting a recommendation for the selection of a consultant for the downtown survey.  If Council approves, the consultant will attend the Council session on February 23rd to discuss the items for inclusion in the survey.  They will then prepare the questions and return for Council review and approval.   There will then be a test audience for the survey to ensure the questions have been constructed correctly prior to the full survey dissemination.
  2. The dedication of the first two phases of the River Oaks subdivision will be on a Council agenda in the coming month.  Due to the length of time these phases have been private and have not had municipal services, a request for emergency language has been made.  The dedications will be placed on the consent agenda with that language for your consideration.
  3. Just a reminder the capital program meeting will take place on February 4th at 8:30 am.  This meeting will be a Zoom meeting and will be recorded for folks who want to see it but can’t make the 8:30 time.

In continuing efforts to increase communications with residents, staff has added Council meeting reviews to the City’s web page.   Beginning in February we will also be posting my updates to Council as well as the monthly reports.

This week Chief Tabak sent you all a note regarding car thefts in Hudson.  He is requesting that you forward that information to your constituents via your social media networks.  Our residents continue to leave their cars unlocked and the key or fob in the car and our police resources are being stretched with these crimes of opportunity.   I forwarded a video the Chief made and if you could distribute that we would really appreciate it.

Staff will be providing some information to the public on coyotes as there have been some concerned residents inquiring or expressing concern with the coyote population.
