SR 91 Turn Lane Project Underway

SR 91 Turn Lane Project Update

The SR 91 North Turn Lane Project construction is underway. The project is designed to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, and provide better pedestrian and bicycle travel between Brandywine Drive and Middleton Road.

Improvements include left-turn lanes at Valley View Road, Herrick Park Drive, and Hines Hill Road, as well as an 8-foot sidewalk on the east side of the roadway and 5-foot bike lanes on both sides of the road. In addition, the project will improve storm water drainage in the area and eliminate the heaving pavement on the sides of the road. In conjunction with this project, the City of Akron Water is installing a new waterline from Herrick Park Drive to Middleton Road. The Turn Lane Project is scheduled for completion in 2021.

Current construction includes relocating the private utility lines between Herrick Park Drive and Middleton Road, which is scheduled for completion in mid-September. Basic site preparation, including brush clearing and equipment staging, is being performed in advance of roadway and new utility installation.

Construction during the first few months will include installing new water line and storm sewer construction between at various locations between Brandywine Drive and Middleton Road. Traffic will be maintained, but at times there may be delays.
