[ARCHIVED] Solicitor's Permit Process Resumes

Soliciting

HUDSON, OH (June 8, 2020) – Due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent State of Ohio Stay-at-Home order, the Hudson Police Department suspended the solicitor permitting program. The process for releasing new permits has been resumed. With public health protocols currently in place for coronavirus (COVID-19), Hudson PD would like to remind everyone of the social distancing requirements: maintaining at least six-foot social distancing from other individuals, washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer, covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands. We ask solicitors to be respectful of residents’ concerns about social distancing.

Individuals are not required to answer the door for a solicitor. If a solicitor is persistent or is in any way threatening, feel free to contact the Hudson Police Department. If you do not want solicitors visiting your home, you can post a "No Solicitations" sign on your door. It is a violation of City ordinances to attempt to solicit for donations, give information, request information, or sell products at a home with a “No Solicitations” sign visibly displayed.

Commercial solicitation is only permitted in Hudson in residential areas between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. EST (during daylight savings time), on weekdays, Saturday and Sundays, or at any time on a state or national holiday (after proper application, approval and fee is paid). Persons who wish to conduct for-profit, door-to-door sales must obtain a permit to do so. A payment of $25.00 per application must be submitted with the completed application for it to be processed. The application can be printed from the City website at www.hudson.oh.us or picked up at the Hudson Police Department.
