Recently, Ohio House Bill 6 was passed by the Ohio General Assembly and has been signed by Governor DeWine. The Bill provides subsidy funding to keep First Energy's nuclear and some coal electric generation plants open and operational by imposing an electric surcharge on all Ohio retail electric customers. However, as the result of continuous push back from American Municipal Power (AMP) and its member communities, the surcharge does not apply to public power communities. Therefore, Hudson Public Power customers will not be required to pay the monthly surcharge. Hudson residents that are served by First Energy and are not Hudson Public Power customers will be required to pay the monthly surcharge.
