[ARCHIVED] Hines Hill /Valley View Will Become a Four-Way Stop Starting 8/26

Valley View Hines Hill Intersection

HUDSON, OH (August 21, 2019) – At last night’s Council Meeting, Hudson City Council passed an Ordinance making the E. Hines Hill / Valley View intersection a four-way stop. It currently is a two-way stop. The additional signs will be added on Monday morning, August 26, 2019, and the intersection will become a four-way stop at that time. Electronic signs are on site to warn motorists of the changing traffic pattern.

A review of the crash history from 2014 to 2018 found that 21 crashes have occurred at that intersection. Seventeen of those crashes were angle crashes with 4 resulting in injuries. Of the angled crashes, 8 involved a vehicle entering the intersection from the eastbound approach of Hines Hill Road while the remaining 9 involved a vehicle entering from the westbound approach.

While the analysis did not warrant a traffic signal, it does meet the requirement for a four-way stop. The study showed that with a four-way stop, the intersection would continue to provide acceptable levels of service.
