[ARCHIVED] Council Renews Preferred Hauler Contract with Republic Services

Trash Carts Cropped

On February 19, City Council approved a new three-year contract with Republic Services as the City’s Preferred Trash and Recycling Hauler. The purpose of the Preferred Hauler Program is to offer quality services at lower prices to residents. With this program, you can choose to use the Preferred Hauler or continue to use your current trash hauler.

All Republic Services customers will receive standard trash service for $54.24 per quarter in 2019, with a 3.5% increase each year. The cost will be $56.13 in 2020 and $58.08 in 2021. This is a significant cost savings when compared to other haulers that charge between $72 and $78 per quarter.

Republic’s standard trash service includes a 96-gallon trash cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart for single-stream recycling (recyclables do not need to be separated). Regular trash, bulk item pickup, and yard waste are also a part of the standard service. Please contact Republic Services regarding bulk item pickup and yard waste specifications. To sign up with Republic Services, visit the Republic Services website or call 1-800-247-3644.

According to information provided to the City by each trash hauler that services Hudson, at the end of 2018:

  • Republic Services provided service to 4,191 households. Of these households, 2,751 utilize curbside recycling services.
  • AA Sanitation provided service to 2,087 households. Of these households, 1,716 utilize curbside recycling services.
  • Waste Management provided service to 823 households. Of these households, 403 utilize curbside recycling services.
  • Kimble provided service to 211 households. Of these households, 192 utilize curbside recycling services.

All City-approved trash haulers are required to provide free recycling services to residents with one free recycling bin. Please note that the request of extra recycling bins may result in a monthly rental fee. Please contact your trash hauler directly for more information.
