The City has been in discussions with the Hudson Schools and an anonymous donor to ensure the former Hudson Elementary School property on N. Oviatt Street and Division Street remains as open space. Hudson Schools intends to transfer the property to the City based on a donation commitment by the anonymous buyer. The property is currently owned by the Hudson Schools.
The donation would be contingent on the property being dedicated as open space and being cost neutral to the City. The arrangement is being discussed by lawyers of the three parties. The City is waiting for an agreement with the other two parties that includes these contingencies on paper.
There are rumors of discussions with a developer, which are not true. The City is not in discussions with a developer, nor are we aware of any such discussions with Hudson Schools or the donor. The City has met with nearby residents on several occasions, and we remain committed to working toward an agreement with all three parties that would maintain this property as open space in a manner that is cost-neutral for the City.
