Hudson Public Power (HPP) employee Ray Kovalchick received the 2016 American Municipal Power (AMP) Hard Hat Safety Award this morning from AMP representative Scott McKenzie. The Hard Hat Safety Award honors utility employees who have contributed to safety within their community during the past year, shown adherence to on-the-job safety procedures, and promoted electrical safety within their department and community. Kovalchick continually demonstrates exceptional safety practices and was also a recipient of this award in 2013.
In addition, HPP received three achievement awards at the 2016 AMP/OMEA Conference in Columbus September 26-29. HPP received an Innovation Award for the Solar Regional Training Facility installed last year at Barlow Community Center. The center is designed to train HPP and other City departments how to work with solar panels as they increasingly deal with solar panels owned by customers. The center also added to HPP’s sustainable energy resources, which makes up approximately 20% of Hudson’s power portfolio.
HPP also received a Safety Commendation Award for safe practices in electric system transmission and distribution. Safety awards are given to communities who had no time loss due to reportable accidents or injuries.
