Last week, Hudson Fire Department members, Hudson City Schools employees, and volunteers helped distribute items from the Annual Holiday Food Drive to 85 Hudson families and senior citizens in need. Each family received a $25 Giant Eagle gift card, a $30 ACME gift card, a complete turkey dinner, one box of canned food, one box of dry goods, one bag of paper and miscellaneous products, and discount coupons. Hudson City Schools, at the direction of Social Worker Julie Schultz, collected and organized the food for distribution.
The Giant Eagle gift cards were purchased with donations from City of Hudson employees, Hudson Fire Department members, Hudson Fire Department Association “Fill the Boot” fundraiser, and Giant Eagle. The ACME gift cards were purchased by Hudson City Schools and other gift cards were supplied by the Hudson Community Service Association. The turkey dinner totes were supplied by the Chirst Community Chapel. Other donations were collected by Hudson Pre-School Parents and the Hudson Ministerial Association. The families were grateful for these generous donations that allowed them to have a memorable Thanksgiving.
“We are thankful that we were able to help put smiles on so many faces this year,” said Hudson Fire/EMS Chief Jerry Varnes. “This is one small example of why we do what we do.”
