The City of Hudson has chosen IGS Energy Home Services’ Home Protection Program as the City’s preferred protection provider. The program offers inside and outside utility line protection plans to all Hudson residents to cover the failure of natural gas, electric, sewer, and water lines due to normal wear and tear. HVAC system protection is also offered and covers expensive repairs to home furnaces, central AC units, heat pumps, and water heaters. Residents can choose complete protection for inside utility lines, outside utility lines, and HVAC systems, or a combination of the options.
Normal homeowners insurance does not cover damage to utility lines caused by normal wear and tear. For example, if a water line breaks, the damage to floors or walls may be covered by homeowners insurance, but the actual water line repair is not normally covered. IGS Energy Home Protection will cover the normal wear and tear of the lines and systems at a reasonable price.
When a covered item fails or leaks, IGS contacts experienced local contractors to investigate the issue, pays for the covered repairs, and guarantees those repairs for a full 12 months. Residents will begin receiving information directly from IGS starting the week of November 14. More information, including how to sign up and the different coverage options, will follow in the next several months as the various products become available in each area.
“Consumers often don’t realize that if something happens to the customer-owned portion of their utility lines or HVAC systems due to normal wear and tear, they would be responsible for the financial burden. We’re excited to help Hudson’s homeowners protect their budgets against costly repairs to these lines and systems,” said Jason Richards, IGS Operations Manager.
