Hudson Public Power is hard at work transforming downtown Hudson into a twinkling wonderland for the upcoming holiday season. They have been stringing more than 9,000 LED holiday lights downtown since the last week of October. Last year, the lights were switched to all LED to provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to regular holiday lights. Each string uses less energy, using 5 watts of power versus the 20 or more watts incandescent strings use. They also last up to 10 times longer than traditional lights, are more durable, and are safer.
It takes HPP nearly four weeks to complete the hanging of the holiday lights and putting up the other decorations around Hudson, including the famous Clock Tower mouse and greenery. Soon, downtown will be shining for all to enjoy.
