Hudson, OH (September 20, 2016) – On Thursday, September 8, 2016, Hudson won a 1st Place Savvy Award in the Marketing and Tools – Economic Development category for the City’s marketing launch of high-speed Velocity Broadband, which made Hudson the first Gigabit City in Northeast Ohio. Hudson also won a 2nd Place Silver Circle Award in the Government Service Delivery/Community Issue category for the Velocity marketing program.
Velocity Broadband high-speed fiber internet service was created based on the expressed needs of Hudson businesses. As part of launching this new service to Hudson businesses, a marketing campaign was developed to generate awareness and to be used as an economic development tool in business retention and attraction efforts. The launch included a teaser campaign and a “reveal,” that included lighting up the clock tower, chalk art around the downtown, marketing materials and an opening event, as well as vehicle wraps.
The 3CMA judging committee commented on Hudson’s winning the 1st Place Savvy Award. “Velocity Broadband’s High-Speed Rollout using historic structures to advertise innovative broadband is genius. They built excitement and then branded the broadband phenomenally well. Looks like advertising was carried out on multiple media formats and even on car wraps. Great job Hudson, Ohio!”
