Did you know a portion of Barlow Community Center's power is solar energy? On a sunny day, the 55 solar panels on the roof and the 10 on the ground can generate approximately 50% of the energy needed for the facility’s day-to-day operation.
Barlow Community Center was transformed into a Solar Training Center on Earth Day earlier this year. It is the first government-owned facility in the region that is designed to train the Hudson Fire Department and Hudson Public Power and to teach school students and the community about solar energy generation. A real-time data monitor is located at the facility, and online, showing how much energy the facility has generated that day, month, or year, current energy production, and the environmental contribution.
Take a tour of this fascinating, educational facility and learn about the benefits of solar energy by coming to Green on the Green on Saturday, September 17. The tour starts at the Gazebo Green at 10:45 a.m. For more Green on the Green information, visit the link below.
