Current Status

In August, 2017, the City sent letters to resident along Hunting Hollow Drive asking for input on the alignment of a new trail alignment given three options:

  • Option 1 is a 10-ft wide sidewalk along Hunting Hollow Drive. The path would be located on the south side of the road, within the City’s right-of-way.
  • Option 2 is a 12-ft wide asphalt path. This option would be located in the Ohio Edison easement behind the homes along the turnpike.
  • Option 3 is to add “Share the Road” signs in both directions along Hunting Hollow Drive. “No Parking” signage along the north side of the road will be considered.

The results of the resident survey concluded that the owners along Hunting Hollow would prefer Option 3 - to have the proposed trail alignment run down the existing asphalt road with pavement markings and signs.

Using public input, the project design along Valley View Road and Hunting Hollow Drive is on-going.

Due for the need of additional design required for the off-road trail along Valley View Road to cross over a Summit County Bridge, the project is postponed. City staff is currently in the process of analyzing the best design to use to meet both Summit County and City requirements. The City will continue design throughout the fall and winter of 2019 with anticipation of construction in 2020.

Hunting Hollow Drive

A portion of Veterans Trail connecting Valley View Road and Prospect Street will utilize Hunting Hollow Drive. Three possible alignments along Hunting Hollow Drive were provided to the residents. A form was included for them to select their preferred option and return for use in the City’s analysis. Click here to view the Trail Options Letter mailed on August 9, 2017.
