Bicycle Friendly Community

Hudson Named a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community

The League of American Bicyclists recognized Hudson with a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community (BFCSM) award on November 16, 2016. Hudson joins a leading group of communities, in all 50 states, that are transforming our neighborhoods. There are now 404 communities currently recognized for their efforts to make biking better with a BFC award.

The Bronze BFC award recognizes Hudson’s commitment to improving conditions for bicycling through investment in bicycling promotion, education programs, infrastructure and pro-bicycling policies. The BFC program provides a benchmark for communities to evaluate these conditions and policies, while highlighting areas for improvement.

Pedal Hudson, Hudson’s bike advisory committee created by Leadership Hudson Class of 2015, submitted the application for Hudson to be considered for the Bicycle Friendly Community award.  The non-profit group has worked tirelessly to advance biking in the community and to achieve the bronze designation for the award by supporting existing community efforts and instituting new programs. In addition, Pedal Hudson created a Hudson Bike Map that highlights bike lanes, dedicated off road paths, mountain bike trails, suggested riding routes, and local resources to help and encourage bicyclists to “Pedal Hudson.”
