Holiday Lights Recycling

Broken lights? Burnt bulbs? Spread holiday cheer by helping the environment this year. Hudson’s Environmental Awareness Committee and select Hudson merchants are teaming up to host a Holiday Lights Recycling Drive through January 13, 2023. Drop your old holiday lights off at any of the participating locations listed below. Lights will be stripped down and as much material as possible will be recycled.

Recycle Lights

Most holiday lights can be accepted:

  • rope lights
  • garland lights
  • C7
  • C9
  • mini lights
  • LED holiday lights.

Lights attached to trees cannot be accepted. Other light fixtures, such as lighted angels, stars, or other lighted items cannot be accepted.

Thank you to the following Hudson businesses for hosting drop-off locations. Stop in and drop-off your lights at any of these places during their regular business hours. Boxes are inside the stores, so be sure to check business hours and take a look around while you’re there!

  • Vertical Runner - 112 N. Main Street
  • Splott Graphics - 118 W Streetsboro St #31 (behind Panera, facing Milford Drive)
  • Learned Owl Book Shop - 204 N. Main Street
  • Ohio Organics – 30 Ravenna St
  • Ace Hardware - 5824 Darrow Road
  • Destination Hudson - 27 E. Main Street

Proceeds from the lights recycling are donated to the Cleveland Zoo’s ‘Lights for Lions’ program. What are the benefits?

  • Benefits residents by creating a convenient option to dispose of old lights, which are not accepted in curbside recycling programs.
  • Benefits the environment by diverting materials to be recycled rather than left in landfills.
  • Benefits wild animals by supporting habitat conservation. Click to learn more about Lights for Lions.
