Holiday Lights Recycling

Broken lights? Burnt bulbs? Spread holiday cheer by helping the environment this year. Hudson’s Environmental Awareness Committee and select Hudson merchants are teaming up to host a Holiday Lights Recycling Drive November 20, 2023 through January 20, 2024. Drop your old holiday lights off at any of the participating locations listed below. Lights will be stripped down and as much material as possible will be recycled.

Recycle Lights

Most holiday lights can be accepted:

  • rope lights
  • garland lights
  • C7
  • C9
  • mini lights
  • LED holiday lights.

Lights attached to trees cannot be accepted. Other light fixtures, such as lighted angels, stars, or other lighted items cannot be accepted.

Thank you to the following Hudson businesses for hosting drop-off locations. Stop in and drop-off your lights at any of these places during their regular business hours (hours vary by location). Boxes are inside the buildings, so be sure to check business hours.

  • Ace Hardware - 5824 Darrow Road
  • Acme - 116 W Streetsboro St
  • City Hall – 1140 Terex Rd (enter at front lobby)
  • Destination Hudson - 27 E. Main Street
  • Heinen's - 19 Clinton St
  • Peace, Love and Little Donuts - 51 S Main St #4 (Evaporator Works Plaza)

Proceeds from the lights recycling are donated to the Cleveland Zoo’s ‘Lights for Lions’ program. What are the benefits?

  • Benefits residents by creating a convenient option to dispose of old lights, which are not accepted in curbside recycling programs.
  • Benefits the environment by diverting materials to be recycled rather than left in landfills.
  • Benefits wild animals by supporting habitat conservation. Click to learn more about Lights for Lions.
