New Recycling Rules for Summit County

Green Chalkboard Earth Day Poster

Did you hear the news? There are new rules for recycling in Summit County. Here are four tips to help you decide what should be recycled.

  1. Do not place your recyclables in plastic bags of any kind. Simply place your recyclables straight in your recycling bin.
  2. NO plastic bags or soft plastics. Soft plastics are any type of plastic that cannot maintain its original shape when empty. This includes grocery store bags, shrink/saran wrap, etc.
  3. Recycle grocery store bags at your local grocery store. Most stores have a bin on your way in or out where you can recycle these bags.
  4. To ensure your recyclables actually get recycled, rinse any dirty containers to remove any food waste or residue. Otherwise they might end up in a landfill.
