Keep Children and Animals Safe this Summer

Dog in Car

Wednesday, June 21 is the official first day of summer, and we’ve already had several hot, summer-like days. Remember that if the temperature outside is 85 degrees, inside a car after only ten minutes, the temperature can rise to 104 degrees.

At around 30 minutes, the temperature inside the car will be about 119 degrees. And, cracking the window will do little to lower the temperature inside the vehicle. A sustained temperature of 104 degrees can be fatal, especially for children or pets. Even if it’s 70 degrees out, the temperature in the car can rise to dangerous levels.

If you see a pet or child suffering in a hot car, call 911. We can be there in minutes and have the tools to open the door.
