Sunshine Week: Your Right to Know

sunshine week

It’s Sunshine Week, the annual nationwide celebration of access to public information. The City of Hudson is committed to providing an open, accessible, and transparent government for its citizens. What are some of the ways the City strives for government transparency?

  • The City streams Council and Boards and Commissions meetings live and on-demand online and has all agendas, minutes, and staff reports available for public viewing via the website.
  • The City budget is available on the City website. The financial transparency tool, Open Checkbook, allows citizens to easily peruse the budget. Another financial application, Taxpayer Receipt, shows taxpayers how their income and property tax money is being used.
  • All Codified Ordinances, the Land Development Code, City Charter, and Engineering Standards are available on the City website for the public to read through.
  • The City lists all current bid postings, construction projects, and pending zoning applications on the website so you always know what we’re working on.
  • Downtown Phase II project information, including a video of the latest public open house, is available on the City website.
  • Interactive maps are on the City website that include property and utility information, making it simple for citizens to look up information.
  • The City’s work order system is displayed on the City website via Engage Hudson and allows anyone to view the status of all work orders, from submission to completion.
  • The City provides public records in a timely manner when requested.

We hope you will take a look at all the tools the City of Hudson has available to learn more about your local government. Take a look at Ohio's Sunshine Laws here.
