Hudson has developed a relationship with our sister city Landsberg am Lech, Germany since the early 1970s. In 1978, a Hudson soccer team visited Germany and played soccer with players in Landsberg am Lech. Over the years, the players and coaches established a friendship that continued into the 1980s. In 1983, Hudson City Council passed legislation that formally created the Sister City partnership.
On August 26, 1984, when officials from Landsberg visited Hudson, the formal documents were signed making the Sister City relationship official. Since then citizens of Hudson and Landsberg have traveled back and forth, continuing the enduring relationship.
Every few years, a
group of Hudson citizens gets together to travel to Landsberg to visit
our Sister City. The trips usually include a stay in Landsberg as well
as visits to surrounding cities, such as Munich, Berlin, Dresden and
others. The groups enjoy visiting medieval castles and other Bavarian
points of interest. The organized tours are inexpensive since much of
the time is spent living with host families in Landsberg. For more
information about how to sign up for the next scheduled trip, email Roland Winzer, Co-Chair of the Hudson-Landsberg Sister City Committee.
Hosting a Family from Landsberg
The City seeks host families to accommodate Landsberg citizens when
they visit our community. In addition, we would like families with
teenagers to sign up to host teenagers for longer periods of time during
their summer vacation or who are visiting our schools during the
academic year. For information, contact Ingrid Brock at (330) 650-9257.
If you are interested in hosting a family in your home, please complete the Online Application to Host a Family and submit it online, or download the pdf
and mail it to the address on the form. The more host families we have,
the better we can match people with similar occupations, interests, and
